A Letter From The Recruitment Team
Hey Aggies,
Welcome to Panhellenic Recruitment at UC Davis! Our community is composed of nine Panhellenic chapters, one associate chapter, and countless passionate members. We are so excited that you’re interested in getting involved.
We know that you want to know as much about formal recruitment as possible before you dive in, so we really want you to exploit all the resources at your disposal. The DCPA website contains information about each of our chapters, the officers, and frequently asked questions regarding recruitment and greek life as a whole. If you are unsure about continuing with the process please feel free to reach out to the Panhellenic recruitment team at any point with questions and concerns you may have!!
Joining a sorority has so many benefits during and beyond your college years. Sororities provide a powerful support system to help you navigate through some of the most exciting and difficult times. Beyond the built-in support system, becoming part of the UC Davis Panhellenic community can provide so much more; our members are involved in research, clubs, organizations, jobs, sports, and everything in between, with many even holding leadership positions in their own chapters. What we all share is a common bond through our involvement in Panhellenic, which connects our sisters in innumerable ways, both in the college years and beyond.
Hey everyone! My name is Samantha Linow, and I’m so excited to serve as this year’s Vice President of Recruitment. Starting college can be overwhelming, I remember feeling unsure about how I would make the most of my time here and find my place on such a large campus. Going through formal recruitment truly changed everything for me. It was the beginning of an incredible journey that shaped my college experience in the best way possible. Growing up, I was always part of a team through sports, and I knew I wanted to find that same sense of connection and support in college. Joining a sorority was, without a doubt, the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve gained lifelong friendships, a strong support system, and countless opportunities to grow, lead, and get involved all through the Panhellenic community. I hope each of you finds the same sense of belonging and joy that I did. Remember, every new and scary beginning holds the opportunity to become a place where you learn, grow, and become exactly who you were meant to be. Wishing you the very best throughout this process, we’re so happy you’re here!
Hi! My name is Nicole Miquilarena and I am your Assistant VP of Recruitment. I am so excited for you all to begin the journey of finding your home in the UC Davis Panhellenic community! I remember being exactly where you are now, and feeling so nervous for the start of Recruitment. I came into UC Davis not knowing anything about Greek life, and was worried I’d be lost and wouldn’t find my place. However, with the help and support of my Pi Rho Chi and the Panhellenic team I was able to find my sisters and have never been happier. I am forever grateful for all that this community has given me from this executive position, to my life long friends. While I know this process can seem daunting, just know we as Panhellenic as well as all the girls in each chapter are here to help you navigate this experience. It is impossible for me to imagine my college experience without being a part of the Panhellenic community. I’m so so excited to see you all grow, flourish, and find your place!
Now that you’ve heard about our own experiences and have gotten to know us a little bit more, we wanted to share with you our two main goals for this year. Firstly, we want to work together with all of Panhellenic to guarantee that everyone feels comfortable and safe throughout recruitment and beyond. It’s important that we ensure every single person feels heard, valued, and welcomed within the Greek community. Secondly, we want to see that everyone going through formal recruitment leaves with a good impression of our community, even if they end up deciding not to join it. This experience should be one that impacts you for the better no matter how it ends!
Although we know that the formal recruitment process can be intimidating, it is also a unique one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet others who share your same values and find a tight-knit community on this vast campus. Wherever this experience leads you, be proud of yourself for broadening your horizons and having the courage to take part in this exhilarating ordeal. Have fun and enjoy the process — we can't wait to meet you!
