We understand that there are lots of terms associated with recruitment that can be hard to grasp. Here you can find popular terms used during recruitment and their full names and meanings!
Recruitment Dictionary
Panhellenic: the governing body that helps oversee the individual chapters at a school. The Panhellenic executive board consists of current members from various chapters.
Formal recruitment: the recruitment that happens in fall quarter. All chapters participate and PNMs have an opportunity to visit every chapter.
Informal Recruitment: also referred to as COB or COR, it can happen throughout the year and is hosted by individual chapters when they are able to take in new members.
Rush: Recruitment; the two words can be used interchangeably.
PNM: Potential New Member anyone participating in recruitment that is not a member of a chapter (that's you!)
Pi Rho Chis: recruitment counselors. They are current members that have disaffiliated from their chapter for the recruitment period. They serve as a support and guidance system for PNMs throughout the recruitment process.
House: chapter; the two words can be used interchangeably.
Dues: the financial commitment associated with joining a chapter. Dues vary between chapters but go towards supporting sisterhood events, philanthropy, and other opportunities hosted by the chapter
Philanthropy: the organization or non-profit that a chapter supports. Chapters often host money raising events or volunteer directly with their philanthropy organization
