Message from the President

Hello! My name is Madison Hyler-Smith and I am the Chapter President for Chi Omega. I am a third year Design major with an emphasis in UX/UI Design. I joined Chi Omega because of its strong commitment to philanthropy, especially its partnership with Make-A-Wish. With a Make-A-Wish facility located nearby in Sacramento, I felt a deep connection to the organization and saw an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in my community. Through my involvement, I have had the privilege of working closely with children and even recently helped grant a wish to a 16-year-old boy, providing him with his dream dirt bike—an experience I would describe as incredibly rewarding.

I decided to go Greek to make the most of my college experience, and it has exceeded well beyond my expectations going into it. Through Chi Omega, I have developed valuable leadership skills and built lifelong connections that have shaped my time at UC Davis.

What makes Chi Omega special to me is the genuine, tight-knit community within the chapter. As President, I feel especially connected to my sisters and am inspired every day by their support, authenticity, and shared values.

I am proud to represent Chi Omega because I truly resonate with its core values and am passionate about helping members grow into confident, empowered women. I believe in leading with purpose and strives to create an environment where every member feels supported and encouraged to reach their full potential.

I became Chapter President after serving as Chapter Treasurer during the 2025 term. In Chi Omega, there is a strong belief that positions choose the woman, and I love to embrace the opportunity to step into a leadership role where I could give back to the chapter that has given me so much.

Message from the Recruitment Team

Hi everyone! My name is Katelin Halstead, a third year Biotechnology major, and the Recruitment Chair for Chi Omega! Though I did not originally see myself joining Greek, getting to know the Chi Omega girls through a COB event drastically changed my mind. Not only were the girls so kind, authentic, and genuine, they were also welcoming. After leaving the event, I knew I wanted to be a part of the community they offered.

Hi guys! My name is Katelyn Tung, a third year Plant Biology major, and I am the Recruitment Assistant for Chi Omega! Differently from Katelin, I joined the Chapter during the formal recruitment process. I joined Chi Omega because I really liked the atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly and I could just tell that I would fit right in. I loved every conversation I had and every interaction was meaningful to me.

We both have loved our time in Chi Omega so much. What makes our chapter so special is the supportive and welcoming environment which provides a place where we can both truly be ourselves. Outside of Chapter event’s we both know that we have so many girls we can count on if ever needed.

We are beyond excited for formal recruitment. The process provides a unique opportunity allowing us to meet so many different types of people. Greek life is such a great way to connect with people so we look forward to meeting potential new members and hearing their stories!

We are both so excited for formal recruitment and can’t wait to meet our future sisters!
