Kappa Kappa Gamma

Message from the President
Hello Hello! My name is Amanda Nguyen, and I couldn’t be happier to be the Chapter President of Kappa Kappa Gamma! I am a third-year Human Development Major with a Minor in Psychology.
I could go on and on about how much I love KKG, but one of the main reasons why I joined KKG was because the girls in this sorority saw a part of me that I could not. The women of KKG not only provide an unwavering support system, but they also influence and welcome every single person they are surrounded by. The women of KKG show nothing but positivity, enlightenment, and care. During my freshman year, I was not planning on going through formal recruitment; however, I went Greek because of my freshman roommate. She convinced me to give this opportunity a try, and three years later, we are still best friends and now sisters of KKG.
One unique experience that I had in KKG was meeting girls who were from my hometown! Throughout my time in KKG, I have met so many girls who I did not know were from my hometown or near my hometown. Without Kappa, I would not have a buddy to go sightseeing at our local viewpoint during long breaks or have someone to get a late-night Sonic dirty soda with on a hot summer day.
As Chapter President, I am nothing less than proud of my chapter. This chapter holds my lifelong friends and sisters who have influenced my life for the better. Through all of our difficulties and accomplishments, Kappas are always there to lift each other and make each other’s days brighter. Especially through our similar morals and actions, Kappas resemble integrity and motivation to be the best versions of themselves. Being President of this sorority is one of the greatest privileges of my life. I am extremely lucky to be able to give back to the organization that has given so much to me.
Overall, I decided to run for Chapter President because I wanted to provide the same leadership and support that drew me to Kappa. KKG has not only shown me an endless amount of support, but this Chapter has shown me a connection that is deeper than just friendship. By running for Chapter President, I was given an opportunity to show other girls that you can make a difference and express the same love and attitude that others have shown you.
Kappa Kappa Gamma lives by the motto, “Dream boldly. Live fully.” which emphasizes our Philanthropy towards mental health organizations. KKG emphasizes the importance of mental health by hosting quarterly philanthropy events to support and raise funds for national and local organizations. For example, in the past, we have supported NAMI and the Jed Foundation. Events such as Kappachino, Kappa Karaoke, and Kappa Karnival, we shine light on the mental health organizations, as well as the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, that mean dearly to us.

Message from the Recruitment Team
Hi, my name is Liv Shaw and I am Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Vice President of Membership! I am currently a second year majoring in Managerial Economics. After going through recruitment during my first year at Davis I knew Kappa was the right place for me. The girls were all so welcoming, kind, and had a great sense of humor. I felt like I found a place that I truly belonged and would find a strong community and group of friends to support me throughout my time in college. Kappa is truly such a special group of girls! For me, the best part is always having a friend wherever you go. You always have someone to sit with on campus, hang out with outside of class, and be there for you when you need a little extra support. Joining Kappa gave me my home away from home and I will always be grateful for my second family here at Davis. As Vice President of Membership, I’m looking forward to overseeing the recruitment process and welcoming in future Kappas! Recruitment is such an exciting time for everyone involved, so being able to make more memories with my sisters and give potential new members the chance to find their home will be so special. One of my favorite unique memories during my time in Kappa so far has been participating in our philanthropy event, Kappa Karaoke. Getting to hang out with all of my sisters and sing karaoke at the top of our lungs while raising money for Mental Health Awareness is such a fun experience and I always look forward to it! When I first came to Davis, I knew nothing about Greek Life, but my roommate convinced me to go through recruitment with her and I’m so grateful I did. Throughout the process, I met so many amazing people that I am still friends with to this day and found a chapter that I could call home. Going Greek was the best decision I could have made in college and I can’t wait to share that experience during recruitment!
