Kappa Alpha Theta

Message from the President

Hi! My name is Aliana, but everyone calls me Ali, and I am proud to serve as the Chapter President for Kappa Alpha Theta.  A little bit about me ! I am a third-year Human Biology major with minors in Sociology and Public Health.

I can honestly say that deciding to be a part of Kappa Alpha Theta was one of the best decisions I made during my time here at UC Davis. My transition into my first year here at Davis was not easy. Being so far from home was a big adjustment. I often felt overwhelmed and struggled to find my place here at Davis.

Joining this chapter completely changed that experience for me. I found a community of women who supported me, challenged me to grow, believed in my passions, and made Davis my home away from home. Because of this, I realized what my reason was to decide to go Greek. My reason was them, the wonderful women in this chapter that I get to call my sisters.  I can honestly say that the connections I have made in Kappa Alpha Theta will follow me forever. For that, I am truly grateful for deciding to go Greek.

The minute I stepped into Kappa Alpha Theta, I felt the genuine care and support every member has for one another. Everyone is encouraged to be themselves and is supported to be the best versions they strive to be ! That authenticity is something that I am so proud to represent every day.

Which I can ultimately say was the whole reason I decided to run for Chapter President. This chapter holds a very special place within my heart and has given me so much. I am passionate about continuing to build a supportive and empowering environment for all members of this chapter, just as this chapter has done for me.

In all honesty, I can’t find myself choosing just one meaningful experience within this chapter. All of them have made me into the person I am today. Watching the members of Theta come together and face both the highs and challenges of college life, seeing our sisterhood grow, is something I will always cherish.

Now, to tell you how the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta are committed to serving the Davis community. Our philanthropy supports our local YOLO County CASA. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, an organization dedicated to supporting children within the foster system, ensuring their voices are heard, and their needs are represented in court. Supporting this cause is something that truly brings our chapter together. It is a privilege not only to make a lasting impact in the community but to do it with the people whom you care about the most for. I am very excited to meet all of you who decided to go Greek. I hope you find your home away from home just as I did !

With tons of love,

Message from the Recruitment Team

Hi,

I’m Jenna, and I’m a second-year majoring in Psychology!

I went through formal recruitment my freshman year, and while I remember feeling a little nervous at first, when I walked into Theta, something about it just felt calm and easy in a way I couldn’t fully explain. The girls I met felt genuine, and it was one of the first times at Davis where I could just relax and be myself.

Growing up with a sister, I knew I was looking for something that felt like home. As I’ve gotten to know my chapter, it’s become exactly that for me. These girls have grounded me, pushed me to be better, accepted me as I am, and have never failed to make me laugh.

While in Theta I’ve felt this amazing support I didn’t even know I was looking for, that has helped me grow into a better version of myself.I think what’s  made this chapter so special is just that. While everyone is so different, it all comes together in a way that feels really genuine and easy.

Some of my favorite moments are the simple ones, laying out in the backyard, going line dancing for the first time, doing crafts in the arboretum, or “studying” together in the living room. Even bigger things have felt less overwhelming because I’ve had these girls there for me.

I went Greek to find my people, and I feel really lucky to have found that here. With recruitment coming up, I’m excited to spend more time with my chapter and see how it’ll continue to grow!

With love,

Jenna Powers
