Covid-19 Official Council Statement
DAVIS, Calif.-- In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and UC Davis’s directives to move to online remote learning for the Spring 2020 quarter, the Asian Sorority & Fraternity Council, Davis Collegiate Panhellenic Association, Davis Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Professional Sorority & Fraternity Council and United Sorority & Fraternity Council are taking precautions in the attempt to mitigate the potential impact of COVID-19 for campus and the broader UC Davis Community.
Moving forward, our sorority & fraternity councils are instituting an interim suspension of all social events effective immediately. This decision is in order to limit large gatherings of our community and keep members healthy and safe. Additionally, other events both on and off campus over 50 members will need to be canceled or postponed as recommended by campus guidance for the remainder of spring quarter. In accordance with the Center for Student Involvement, no events of any size should be hosted until May 1, 2020. Other events should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene and social distancing. When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual. With this guidance, we recommend moving all events and meetings virtual, whenever possible. We recognize this is a challenging and unprecedented time and we appreciate our communities cooperation and resilience. These guidelines will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis and changes to these recommendations will be communicated if needed.
